Both my daughters had a birthday this past March. Their birthdays were only a week apart, so we combined them because, well, I guess Im cheap!
My oldest daughter turned 2 and shes obsessed with Yo Gabba Gabba, so we made her a Foofa cake, because thats one of her favorite characters. I baked the cake, my Mom (someone who is better at decorating cakes than me) covered it in the green and blue base. I drew the picture on the cake with a tooth pick to give my Mom a guide and she decorated herself. Go Mom, you rock!
My younger daughter turned 1, and she is also a Gabba fan (she maybe little but boy can she dance!), but she has a special obsession with cats. So we made a kitty cake, kind of modeled after our cat, Neeko. Again, I baked the cake, mom put the white base of frosting down, I free handed a kitty on there with a toothpick, and she decorated it. Awesome teamwork if I do say so myself!
it would be very hard to draw on a cake. I know with myself i need to have a place to set my hand, or else it gets very shaky. I cant imagine drawing on the cake where you can not set down your hand.
It is hard!!! At least when you're drawing with the toothpick in the icing, you can smooth it over if you mess up. It's drawing with the icing that's the hardest, I wasn't even going to attempt that myself, which is why I got my Mom to do that part. She claims she can't draw or paint, but if she can do that to a cake I beg to differ!
